Touch Me (2024)

A video work created to accompany the exhibition "Space X" (2024). A human head made of the paper - whcih appears to be  3DCGI - gradually dissolves while exuding bodily fluids of various colors.

The splatter scenes commonly found in horror films — bodily fluids spraying and gushing forth —

appear as a process in which something identifiable by a proper noun is deconstructed and transformed into something that can no longer be named.

Can this process be viewed as analogous to the refusal of re-representation in Abstract Expressionism, and the consequent progression toward formlessness and speculative commodification?

That is, the process by which painting abandons its motif and moves toward abstraction — approaching something closer to sheer value, or rather, price — closely resembles the narrative arc of splatter cinema,

in which what was once a "person" is dismantled and propelled toward an entropic saturation of bodily fluids.

Music: KVITVI XVDVNKVI (uami & honninman)
